With international links, the IOB continues to maintain its reputation as an international body and prides itself in being the founder member of the African Alliance of the Institute of Bankers (AAIOB) and currently holds the secretariat function.

Corporate Governance and Leadership
The IOB has been approved by BANKSETA as a Centre of Excellence for the Banking Sector.

The current President of the Institute is Brian Riley, CEO Wesbank, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors is Sipho Ngidi, Group Director: Human Resources of Standard Bank.
